I had my dr's appointment this afternoon to try to figure out what is wrong with my period and why it's been going on for 22 days now. I printed off all of my charts and brought them in and had my old gynecologist fax over my chart from Michigan.
They were very friendly, sat and talked with me and got a complete patient history.
Then the doctor came in and sat and talked with me and went over my charts and just answered questions for about an hour. It was amazing, I've never had a doctor pay that much attention to me. She basically said there are lots of options when it comes to regulating your period if you were not trying to get pregnant but since you are, none of those will work (Getting on birth control, etc.)
She basically said that she doesn't think I'm ovulating, after checking my uterus and doing a thorough internal exam she doesn't think polyps or things of the like are what is causing my abnormally long bleeding and my abnormal cycles. She said she thinks I'm not ovulating and that is what is causing all of the problems. Also, since it hasn't been a year I'm not classified as "infertile" yet, and since I was on birth control before she said it usually takes about six months to get that out of your system and since it's been over that she thinks I am still regulating. She said we could start progesterone for the next 3 cycles from days 14 to 24 and get me to start my period at a normal time, but that we should use condoms or something else to keep from getting pregnant. I told her I hated the progesterone pills I was on before and that since waiting it out was an option that's what I wanted to do.
Basically her advice was to go on a diet and wait it out.
So cheers.
And hopefully my period will stop.

I'm sorry there was nothing she could do to help. I hope you period stops really soon! So what kind of diet did she tell you to go on?
Hmmm. I'm sorry she couldn't offer more, but I'm glad for you that she was so thorough and attendent. What are the next steps then? Are there next steps?
