Thanksgiving week

It's 10pm here in Michigan and I'm sitting in bed at my mom's while Jackie Lee is trying to sleep while some Charlie Brown movie is on tv. Here's a run down of our thanksgiving week:

Tuesday
Jack went to work in the morning like any other morning and as the day went by I really felt a big tug on my heart for MIL so as the day went by I decided that we were going to go to Michigan the next morning... as the day went by even more, I decided that instead of leaving in the morning, we'd just drive through the night. So Jack got off work and home by about 3:30pm and then we packed everything up and got everything ready for our trip and we were on the road by 6pm. We rolled into my mom's driveway at 2:30am local time. We made excellent time!

Wednesday
We woke up a bit late and got dressed and put the dog in the cage and my mom went to work and we headed out for breakfast and then we drove over to the in-law's to surprise them. They had no idea we were in town. We pulled in the driveway and father-in-law and brother-in-law were in the driveway and their mouths just about hit the driveway haha! Father-in-law starts yelling for mother-in-law and he's crying and she runs outside and she instantly loses it. Jack hugs his dad and his brother and then walks up to the porch and hugs his mom and his dad hugs me and his brother hugs me and everybody's crying haha. It was awesome! His parents couldn't get it together, they were so happy to see us. His dad kept yelling, "Jack lied! He lied!" *rolls eyes* way to make a good thing negative buddy.

Father-in-law had to go to work, he was just getting ready to leave for work as we pulled in the driveway, so he was all bummed that he had to go. Then Mother-in-law had an appointment to go to so we only had about an hour with her before she left for the day so the majority of the day we spent with his brother, Daren. A couple of Jack's buddies came over to see him, and my girlfriend and her little sister stopped by and we hung out there all day until his parents came home. We went back to my mom's at about 10pm.

Thursday - Thanksgiving
We woke up around 8am and got showered and dressed and went downstairs and had breakfast with my mom. She got ready to go to my sister's for Thanksgiving and we got ready to go to Jack's grandparents who live an hour North of where we were.

We packed the dog into the Jeep and made the trek Mayville and surprised his Grandma when we got there, she also had no idea we were coming. Then his Grandpa got home and he was all happy to see us and then his cousins started getting there and aunts and uncles one by one all excited to see us! It was awesome. Great visit!

At about 3pm we had to go to my family's Thanksgiving for a little bit, so Daren rode with us back to his parents house to drop him off so he could go to his fiance's family's Thanksgiving dinner and Jack and I went to Grand Blanc to my aunt's house to surprise even more people! Everyone was so happy to see us! It was great to see everyone too!

Then we took our dog back to my mom's house and dropped her off and headed back over to Jack's parents and sat up with them talking until 3 in the morning!! It was such a great visit, they talked to us like adults, FINALLY and talked to us about God and our church and everything we want to do and accomplish and everything. It was awesome to finally relate to them like that again. At 3am, we headed back to my mom's to go to bed.

Friday
Woke up late and called Jack's buddy Steve and had us meet him in Ortonville for breakfast and then we were going to go visit Steve's dad, Bubba who was stuck at home for the last month after a terrible accident with a gravel hauler losing it's entire load on i75 and he crashed into it all going 75 mph and wrecked the van, rolled it and crashed into a wall then as he was upside down hanging there waiting for help to come another vehicle lost control and crashed into him again. So he was in rough shape, so we visited with him until about 330pm. Then we drove out to Hadley to see Jack's parents property and go off-roading and there were people out there hunting, so we didn't want to wreck it for them, so we drove back to Ortonville and went down Fox Lake Road a couple times with Steve and his wife Dayna. Then we headed back to my mom's for dinner and we went to Ruby Tuesday. We called it an early night and went to bed.

Saturday (today)
We woke up around 9:30am and went downstairs and my mom and older brother, Matt, were there cooking breakfast. My other 2 siblings were supposed to come over but never showed up so it was just my mom, Matt, Jack and I. No problem, more for us!

Then we were supposed to head over to Jack's parents house for the rest of the day for a birthday dinner for brother-in-law's fiance. As we are driving to Border's to pick up a few books for me, father-in-law calls and says that mother-in-law has a terrible chest cold and we shouldn't come over and that dinner is cancelled. So we shop at Border's and then stop by my girlfriend Ashley's house and see her family for an hour or so, and say happy birthday to Ashley's little sister Lexie. At about noon we head over to Jack's parents' house to hang out with father-in-law in the garage. Mother-in-law waves hi from the window and opens it and yells down that we do NOT want to come in there, she's coughing and all miserable and feeling like crap! We hang out for a little while and decide well this is a waste of time so we might as well drive home tonight. We leave the in-laws hugging and waving bye and head back to my mom's to pack everything up.

While we're there we check the weather and find out that it is going to snow almost the whole drive home or have freezing rain... and I decided that I'd rather hit that kind of weather in the daytime instead of at night so it doesn't catch us off guard.

My mom made dinner and we just hang out and my girlfriend Lisa comes over and visits with me for a few hours and now it's 10:18pm and everyone else is asleep. Lisa went home about an hour ago and I have packed up all our stuff and cleaned up all the shredded paper all over the house that my mom let my dog tear apart. All we have to do is get up and shower and eat breakfast, pack the jeep and take off. I'm guessing we'll get home by 6pm Sunday.... depending on the condition of the roads :-/ eek.

I downloaded Elf and The Other Clause to watch on the drive home tomorrow. I'm hoping that it only takes us less than 8 hours to get home instead of some ridiculous 15 hour drive like we've had before!
